The MINI Cooper Is A Strong Performer

The MINI Cooper Is A Strong Performer

The revised MINI Cooper is now available with new diesel engine that not only improves economy but also cuts emissions. It is more powerful too. It has been made from the engine used in the parent company's BMW 1 Series.

The new MINI 1.6 litre engine is now turbocharged with more power and torque. It gives strong performance, is more frugal and has low CO2 emissions than the engine it replaces. This means an average economy of more than 70mpg and sub 100g/km of CO2 emissions. That makes it cheap to run too with free road tax for private owners. When at high speed the engine doesn't make that much sound but at low speeds the sound is loud too. It is also equipped with stop/start system to improve efficiency.

It gives a strong performance and offers a good pull in the mid range much more than the previous engine. That means diesel and petrol engines have different characteristics. The petrol model is the most exciting and sporty because it needs hard revving, whereas the diesel is a little less frantic. If you go around a tight turn in second gear, for example and after a slight pause the turbocharger kicks in. There is also a minor facelift along with this new engine, The bumpers have been revised at both ends, as well as a new black cross piece underneath the front number plate and new look lights at the back. The changes are so MINImal that even if you park the old and new cars side by side, you will find it hard to notice any changes. They're minor, to say the least.

The MINI Cooper also has new wheels and paint colours as well as revised inside trims. The new options now include adaptive headlights and MINI connected an in-car infotainment system that is controlled by MINI's version of BMW's iDrive. It works through an iPhone to give web radio, Twitter and Facebook updates. The big problem facing the MINI Cooper is that these minor changes make up a surprisingly big price rise. The Cooper will cost you £15,675 which is £500 dearer than its predecessor. These rises also apply to Clubman and Convertible ranges. Unless you do lots and lots of miles, you will struggle to give good reason for that kind of price difference in lower fuel bills. It is also £1,000 more costly than the petrol engine Cooper which is more economical and quicker and returns a remarkable 50mpg.

MINI Cooper S has the ability to engage the driver in all situations which is its key strength. The Cooper S might not have sharp and pure chassis as a Civic but it wears its heart on its sleeve which makes it a lot of fun on fast cross-country roads. The MINI is light and clean which means it can easily return well over 30mpg. MINI Cooper S comes with a very attractive servicing package which helps to maintain strong resale value. MINI is one of the most admired used cars around. This British baby is certainly at the top of its class due to its exceptional performance.
